Ways to support the Oregon District Tragedy Fund

August 6, 2019 By Lisa Grigsby

We awoke on Sunday, August 4th to the terrible news about the Oregon District shooting. Our hearts and prayer are with the families and friends of the victims as well as our entire region.  The Dayton Foundation is accepting funds  in a specially created Oregon District Tragedy Fund to help people impacted by this tragedy.  If you are interested in supporting this fund you can make a direct donation here.

There are also many local businesses that are offering ways to support the fund:

Salar Restaurant and Lounge at 400 E. 5th Street is serving a special menu for the next week, of which 100% of proceeds will be donated to the The Dayton Foundation Dayton Oregon District Tragedy Fund. The menu will change throughout the week.

All week Partial To Pie Bakery, located at 200 Shroyer Rd. will be donating a $1 for every pie slice sold here to the Dayton Oregon District Tragedy Fund through the Dayton Foundation. Come buy a slice for yourself, a loved one or for someone else in our community during this time.

Corner Kitchen  at the corner of 5th & Wayne Ave. will donate 5% of all sales this week will go to support the victims & their families ?#daytonstrong #afinerdiner

Join  Dayton Spaghetti Warehouse on Wednesday August 7th as 100% of profits from ALL sales will be donated to the Dayton Oregon District Tragedy Fund, assisting the families who lost loved ones in the tragic shooting here in our beloved city. Help us as we stay #DaytonStrong in the midst of this terrible tragedy.

Esther Price is giving back in a huge way following the mass shooting that claimed nine lives and injured so many others.  On Wednesday, August 7th  Ester Price candies will donate all of the in-stores sales from their Dayton and Cincinnati locations to the victims’ families

The Cakery of Dayton at 140 Woodman  Drive posted this:

HELP US HELP THEM! We are all searching for what we can do to help in the aftermath of the senseless, unfair, heartbreaking tragedy that struck our city this weekend. Nothing we can do will bring the victims back to their families and friends. But we can still help and support those they left behind. We can honor the incredibly brave hero’s who acted selflessly Saturday night to try and save others. And we can remember those who lost their lives. In order to do our little part, we will be selling a Dayton Strong cupcake through Wednesday. 100% of the proceeds will go to the Dayton Oregon District Tragedy Fund set up by The Dayton Foundation. We will donate $200 at minimum. But we hope it’s more than that. Let’s all come together to support, honor, and remember.

The Little York Tavern at 4120 Little York Road and local band, Mad Hatter, will work together to raise funds for Oregon District Tragedy Fund starting at 9 pm Friday night, Aug. 9th.  The band  will be donating its performance fee, the tavern will be donating 10 percent of sales for Friday, and donations from patrons will be collected to benefit shooting victims and their families,

The Root Beer Stande, at 1727 Woodman Dr,   will donate the sales from all our floats on Sunday August 11. Floats are always $1.50 on Sundays. We will have a jar out all week if you can’t make it Sunday and would like to contribute.

Troll Pub Dayton at 216 Wayne Ave. will host a  Happy Hour Extravaganza Sunday night, Aug. 11 from 6-9pm with drink specials and raffles to raise funds for the victim relief fund.

Dayton Foodie Cards, a deck of dining deals will donate $10 from every deck sold through August 15th. Each card deals out $10 off your order at over 50 amazing local restaurants. That’s over $500 in value!  You can buy them online and they will be shipped right out.  Perfect for gift giving and also available for Columbus, Cincinnati, Cleveland and Toledo.
If you know of others, please add them in the comments below.
