TORNADO RELIEF UPDATE FRIDAY 6.7 – VOLUNTEER / DONATION NEEDS

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Friday – Sunday Harrison Township Fire Station 2400 Turner Road

VOLUNTEERS (older kids can help too!)

Show up to volunteer anytime between 10 and 6; 12 and 6 on Sunday. They need help unloading and sorting donations as well as talking to people as they pull up to pick up donations and assessing their needs then bringing whatever they need to their car and loading it up. call or text Amanda at 309-370-8741 and she will supply you with a specific location that needs your help.

Want to volunteer? It’s easy! Show up at the The Dayton Sports Complex 4801 Salem Ave

Get there ANY DAY by 8am for their morning briefing – they will deploy you with equip, safety goggles & gloves…and their team… to the areas where they are needed.

Friday – Saturday LoveDayton Tornado Relief This Weekend

FRIDAY, JUNE 7, 10am-Noon

We need about 20 people to help us sort/pack 300 bags of cleaning supplies for the LoveDayton outreach.

– Meet at Door 2 (receptionist)

– We’ll be working in the Ministry Center Gym

– We’ll be prepping snack bags and bags of cleaning supplies.

SATURDAY, JUNE 8 – LOVEDAYTON 2019

Our teams have been working all week to get our relief projects scheduled and we’re excited to have you join us on Saturday to reach our community! Here are the details:

– Meet in the CLC sanctuary at 9am SHARP on Saturday, June 8.

– Wear your LoveDayton shirts if you have them! If not, pick one up from the lobby tables when you arrive.

– In the sanctuary, you will receive instructions on what projects we will be doing that day and how we will be deploying all volunteers.

– We’ll be doing a combination of cleanup & clear-out as well as delivering care items to our community.

– Be ready to serve . . . and see you on Saturday!

ALSO, for those who want to start bright and early, we’re teaming up with an awesome group called TEAM RUBICON (a disaster response team). For those who want to be part of this outreach, here are the details:

– Meet us at the CLC van at 7:45am – Saturday, June 8.

– Dayton Sports Complex at 4801 Salem Ave, Dayton, OH 45416.

– They will be deploying people at 8am.

– Volunteers have to be 18+

– Wear long work pants/jeans, and wear heavy-duty work boots. www.teamrubiconusa.org

Saturday Living City Project

We need you and your truck Saturday 830am in Northridge to help haul out brush and debris! Say “I’m in” and more info at livingcityproject.org! Volunteers without trucks needed to load as well. Skidloaders, loaders and dump trucks also welcome!

If you know a homeowner OR renter across the region who needs help at a specific address with getting debris or brush to the curb, moving out or tarping roofs please have them call Samaritan’s Purse at (937) 818-7062 asap so a team can be dispatched!

Pippin’s Market needs volunteers 12pm-8pm daily (will close early if they do not have volunteers as there is just 1 woman with a key and it’s not safe for her to be there alone) – said toiletries, cleaning supplies, dish soap, laundry detergent, food, and diapers are going out as fast as they are coming in!
They do not need clothing at this time.

Dayton Children’s Hospital is accepting everything except food from 9 AM to 4 PM through Friday (they will re-asses after Friday) at the building that’s at the intersection of Valley and Stanley.

Faircreek church can ALWAYS use volunteers! We are sending teams out every day all this week, Saturday and next week! We have morning shifts, evening shifts, or you can work all day! It’s so easy… just text WORK to 818-4030 and you will get daily updates of work sites!

Hopeland church at Stop 8 and Miller Lane is in need of backpacks canned goods cleaning supplies and feminine products along with body wash shampoo and shaving supplies

Liz Gordon Bill’s Garage on Rt. 201 (602 Brandt Pike) needs help distributing donations so he can get back to running his garage. He has set up an outdoor cooking area & has been feeding people since last Thursday. He needs volunteers to sort & distribute donations and to cook for the people. His # is 937-657-8650

Cricket Wireless store in Huber Heights is accepting all donations (besides clothes) at this time. We ask that toys be new or slightly used. We are even taking furniture!

Donation times are Mon-Sat 10am-7pm and sun 12pm-6pm

Harrison Twp Fire Station – 2400 Turner Road 

FOOD/SUPPLIES:

Canned vegetables, soup, dish soap, laundry soap, peanut butter, jelly, bread, pasta, pasta sauce, cereal, conditioner, paper towels, toilet paper, large size body wash, Diapers – size 4, 5, and size 6. Along with cleaning supplies like brooms mops rags, trash bags.

Brethren Disaster Ministries meets Monday-Saturday at Happy Corner Church in Clayton at 7am and travels to Northridge to work until 4pm. We are working closely with the school system with certain service needs and also in the neighborhoods for recovery efforts. Let me know if you want more info.

Northwest Recreation Center, 1600 Princeton Dr.,  Greater Dayton Recreation Center, 2021 W Third St. and Lohrey Recreation Center, 2366 Glenarm Ave.  Hours for the centers are Monday-Friday, 6 a.m. – 9 p.m. and Saturday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Donations of skids or larger should be made at the Expo Center, Dayton Airport, 3900 McCauley Drive, Vandalia from 7 a.m. – 2 p.m.

— Fill the Truck – Again will have a semi-trailer at the Royal Crest Building 29 W. Main Tipp City from 9am-5pm then from 5pm-8:30pm donation drop off’s will be at Tipp city public library. Donations will be collected through June  7th.  Items that are needed: Bottled water, Hygiene products, Cleaning supplies and gloves and anything else someone would need. Monetary donations can be made at 3 E. Main St at Tipp Monroe Community Services

The Puerto Rican American and Caribbean Organization of Dayton is accepting donations for Dayton tornado victims Saturday June 8, 15 and 22 from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Dayton International School Spanish Immersion Academy at 5700 Far Hills Avenue. The organization is not accepting clothing, food or water, but is accepting personal care items, cleaning supplies, paper products, first aid items, batteries, candles, diapers, latex and work gloves, masks, shovels, flashlights, etc. Gift cards are accepted and preferred.

Shana Lloyd (once Douglas) returns to Dayton Most Metro, only this time she’s writing about a different type of adventure.
