A Dozen Charitable Events to Attend in Februrary

Dayton long ago earned a reputation for being a city that gives back. According to the history of the Dayton Foundation, NCR founder and Chairman John H. Patterson championed innovative projects for the betterment of the community. Joining him in his enthusiasm was his sister-in-law, Julia Shaw Patterson Carnell, and nephew, Robert Patterson, son of John Patterson’s brother, Capt. Robert Patterson, all active community leaders in their own right. A leading businesswoman, Julia Patterson Carnell helped establish the Dayton Art Institute by donating works of art, a mansion that served as the museum’s first home and $2 million towards the construction in 1930 of its current facility.

Today there are over 4000 nonprofits in the region, and to continue the legacy of taking care of our community, there are hundreds of fundraising events to support them.

Savor Your Sunday Brunch

Every Sunday in February @ 10:00 am – 1:30 pm

Coco’s Bistro
Sunday’s in Feb:  10:00 am – 1:30 pm .  $30

Each Sunday, guests will experience the amazing talents of student performers from the featured music magnets, while enjoying a specially prepared menu showcasing the best CoCo’s Bistro has to offer at a great price! Guests will also have the opportunity to win and/or purchase one-of-a-kind pieces of art created by Stivers adjuncts & students.

FEB 17 – Strings Ensembles
FEB 24 – Chamber Choir

All funds raised during the Sunday brunches will support arts instruction at the school.

A Special Wish Foundation – Dayton has been making special wishes come true for local children for over 30 years. These wishes wouldn’t be possible without the continued generosity of the community. The 14th Annual Valentines Dance benefiting The Dayton Chapter of A Special Wish Foundation is the area’s only wish-granting organization!

Community Pancake Breakfast.

February 9 @ 8:00 am – 12:00 pm . $5

Just $5 gets you all the pancakes, sausage, orange juice, and coffee that you’d like. And you can enjoy it all in the company of your friends and neighbors while listening to tunes performed by members of the high school music programs.

Your volunteer cooks and friendly servers will be members of the Beavercreek High School Band and their supporters, along with lots of Beavercreek Rotarians.

A Singing Valentine

February 9 @ 5:30 pm – 10:00 pm   $50

Musica cordially invites you to their 3rd annual fundraising Gala, “A Singing Valentine.” This elegant event will once again take place at the beautiful Mills Park Hotel in downtown Yellow Springs on Saturday, February 9, 2019. Included will be a full gourmet dinner, cash bar, a performance by Musica.

There will also be a silent and live auction. Cocktail hour begins at 5:30 pm and dinner at 6:30 pm followed by musical performances and the live auction. Tickets are $50 per person.

African American Community Fund Breakfast

February 12 @ 8:00 am – 9:00 pm

Interested in learning more about AACF, supporting our mission and getting to know our Board? Join AACF for its Breakfast Meeting on February 12, 2019 from 8 to 9 am
at Sinclair Community College. It’s free to attend, but all will be asked to make a donation.

Beer with Benefits

February 14 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Cupid’s Undie Run

February 16 @ 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm

This February, be part of something great. Cupid’s Undie Run is a “brief” fun run that takes place in the middle of a BIG party. That’s right: party, run (a mile-ish, at your own pace), party – all to find a cure to neurofibromatosis, a genetic disorder that affects 1 in every 3,000 children born. We encourage undies, but we get that it’s not for everyone, maybe costumes are more your style? So whether you start a team with your friends, join a team, or run solo, just come out, have a blast, and raise some money for NF research!

Bowling for PRIDE

February 23 @ 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Join us for the 12th Annual “Bowling For Pride” Fundraiser February 23th!

Check in time is 1 PM, Bowling begins at 2 PM. Don’t forget our ever famous Raffle with all sorts of fun prizes to be raffled off. Check back for a full list of raffle prizes and donors soon. (Tickets sold at the door. cost: $20 per bowler and includes shoe rental) You may also purchase your tickets online today and select your lane.

February 23 @ 7:00 pm

Includes cocktail reception, dinner and dancing.

Scare Away Cancer

February 28 @ 5:30 pm – 8:00 pm

$35 – $50

Guests will work together to solve the crime of the evening. Not only
will you investigate the crime, but you will also become the suspects.
The investigation will be lead by a theatrical group of ‘crime solving
professions’ who will engage with the crowd to figure out who did it,
how they did it, and why they did it.

Owning Jokers Comedy Cafe for 20 years taught Lisa to maintain a sense of humor under pressure. She credits Leadership Dayton for exposing her to the amazing assets of the region and Clothes That Work for being her reason she stayed in Dayton. Her proudest accomplishment as a past president of the Miami Valley Restaurant Association was creating Restaurant Week, a twice a year tradition that continues to grow and benefit local charities as well. As a foodie, it's only natural that she continues to promote local restaurateurs with DaytonDining.

As a Dayton Catalyst, her desire to have ONE community calendar and advocate for the amazing assets of the region helped create the vision for the relaunch of DaytonMostMetro.
