Sunday, March 14, 2021, is National Pi Day in the United States! The holiday honors the mathematical constant known as pi (π). According to Scientific American, pi is the “ratio of the circumference of any circle to the diameter of that circle.” No matter how big or small the circle is, the ratio will always equal pi.
Technically speaking, the value of pi is 3.141592653589793238 (that’s a lot of numbers!), but when shortened to 3.14, it becomes clear why we celebrate National Pi Day on March 14 every year.
