Mobile Boutique Makes Its Debut

April 13, 2016 By The Food Adventures Crew Leave a Comment

Owner Jacquie and her Mobile “Bon Voyage Boutique”

Dayton Most Metro has exclusive first scoop on a new mobile boutique that is ready for business.

“Bon Voyage Boutique” will bring Dayton’s first Airstream brand mobile shopping boutique to the masses.  In recent years, mobile boutiques have become more popular.  Owner Jacquie  Powell has been obsessed with this concept for a while.  She had searched and searched for the perfect mobile unit.  Jacquie found the Airstream in August after searching all over Ohio, North Carolina, and Indiana.

Ready for business

Then the work began.  Her and her team gutted it down to the studs. While Jacquie did much of the work, she used local carpenter Ryan Spencer to transform  into a the Airstream into a shop.   Ashley Powell of Luken Interiors was in charge of design.  Finally, Brett Walker from Asher’s Car Detail, has polished the “camper.”  Jacquie told us there are many people to give credit to, that helped make her dream come true.

Bon Voyage Boutique will feature women’s fashions purchased in New York during fashion shows.  From clothing and shoes, to jewelry and accessories, the selection will be fun and fashionable.  Jacquie makes sure all the products are American made.  She chose only to carry American made because as a retailer she feels it is her responsibility to provide ethically sourced and eco friendly fashion. Eventually,  Bon Voyage Boutique would like to become a “fair trade company,” meaning their products are socially and environmentally sustainable.  Jacquie’s goal is to spread awareness about the fashion industry and the effects it has globally.

Bon Voyage is currently booking private parties, also doing rallies and festivals in the Dayton/Cincinnati area.

BOOK YOUR EVENT by calling 937-422-6284 or visit Bon Voyage Boutique on Facebook HERE.

Gather with friends at the boutique for a private, fun wine party, or boost a fundraiser.  What a great way to get “impossible to find” fashions from New York City.  Keep your eyes out for Bon Voyage Boutique, rolling to a fashion party near you !

Americana Festival: 5k, FOOD, Fireworks & Fox

July 2, 2014 By The Food Adventures Crew Leave a Comment

Pork Chops on the Grill

Run, eat and watch fireworks in the street. The Americana Festival is celebrating 41 years strong with this year’s event in downtown Centerville.  This year we have the star spangled scoop on some new Food Adventure attractions and happenings.

The Big Ragu is a lifelong Centerville guy, so this festival is close to our homes and our hearts.  We cant think of a better way to celebrate freedom and the good ole’ USA, than this event.

Here is a day in the life of a 4th of July Food Adventurer at the Americana  Festival:

7:30am:  5K RUN at Centerville Stadium.  Why?  So we can eat all day, guilt free, that’s why !

9:30am: Sneak between the chairs lining the streets, dart across State Route 48 and see what food vendors are open early.  Ragu actually had a 9:45am cheesesteak 2 years ago.

10:00am: Watch the AMERICANA FESTIVAL PARADE. We hope to march in he parade someday, carrying flags with cheeseburgers on them, and wearing sequin shorts…

Harvest Mobile Food Truck will be at the Festival

11:30am – 4:00pm:  STREET FAIR: We are excited to be checking out these MUST EATS !!

—HARVEST MOBILE:  Who else loves the healthy “Local Wrap?”

— ZOMBIE DOGZ:  The Nibbler Dog ! Heck, any hot dog they have is a true original and something you wont taste anywhere else!

— EL MESON FOOD TRUCK: Empanadas to die for !

— MOM’S HOMEMADE GOODIES: Incredible Soft Pretzels

— SANTORINI’S GREEK KITCHEN:  The Gyros are must eats.  They are grilled fresh by these guys in from Indianapolis.

— TIM HORTON’S:  You may need the coffee for some quick energy

— OLD TYME POPCORN:  Kettle Corn experts !

— LaROSA’S:  You gotta get some pizza slices from this Cincinnati icon

— CINDY LOU’S BBQ:  Any BBQ entree is delicious here !

— KONA ICE:  Cool off with a SnoCone cup with tiger’s blood sauce !

El Meson will be at the Street Fair

— CORK N BOTTLE’S AMERICAN GRILL:  Any one of their sandwiches are delicious, cheap, and a handful !

— BLACKJACK GRILL:  The best grilled porkchops in Dayton

—NELLY’S CHICKEN:  The rotesserie roasted, Bolivian recipe chicken is nothing short of amazing on flavor !

As you can see there are gonna be plenty of options to light your fireworks.  We didnt even mention the carnival type food, or local places within walking distance like SWEENEY’S SEAFOOD HOUSE, JOHNNY’S SLICE OF NY, BILLS DONUTS, MARION’S PIZZA, CITY BBQ, GRAETERS ICE CREAM, ROOT48, and MCDIGGERS PUB.

We will also be hanging out with Fox and Friend’s Brian Kilmeade who will be in town promoting his new book!

10:00PM: FIREWORKS AT CENTERVILLE FOOTBALL STADUM.  We usually cap off the night by attending the fireworks with family, after napping off a food coma.

Show your patriotism this Friday.  Whether it is chanting USA, or wearing a US Flag t-shirt, we hope you have the time of your life.  We suggest you do just that in downtown Centerville on the 4th !
Even Uncle Sam will be there, and so will The Food Adventures Crew.

Harvest Mobile Cuisine: Fresh, Local, & Affordable

July 11, 2013 By The Food Adventures Crew Leave a Comment

Harvest Mobile Food Truck

The Big Ragu, Chef House and Hungry Jax are no different than other Daytonians.  We have full time careers, love our family, and we chase Food Trucks around town.   As you know, mobile food cuisine is currently ‘all the rage’ in the Miami Valley.

One of our favorites,  Harvest Mobile Cuisine is a Dayton food truck owned by Patrick Sartin, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America.  After working in various kitchens across the country, Patrick bought a food truck with the goal to offer comfort foods that use local produce at an affordable price.

Harvest Mobile Cuisine is one of the most popular food trucks in Dayton and has a legion of loyal customers.   Follow them on Facebook and check out their website harvestmobilecuisine.com to find out where they are gonna be rolling off to next.  Its a local Food Adventure on the “go” ..

Must Eats:

Nothing better than a Local Wrap in one of the best dining rooms in Dayton… Five Rivers Metro Park

  • Harvest Fries– These are not your average fries!  They are a mixture of white potatoes & sweet potatoes, seasoned with fresh herbs and served with Sriracha ketchup.
  • Humble Farmer– A salad made with Patchwork Greens, a variety of seasonal vegetables, creamy goat cheese and tossed in Harvest Vinaigrette.  One of the reasons we love this salad, is that it’s constantly changing!  Order it one time and your salad might be made with fresh picked strawberries and asparagus…..the next time it might contain sugar snap peas.  You can count on the fact that it will always be fresh!
  • Local Wrap– Our favorite rendition of this wrap so far consisted of Hill Family Farms Chicken, Jackson’s local Strawberries, Asparagus, & Goat Cheese on a Whole Wheat Tortilla Wrap.  This tasty offering is also served with your choice of fruit or Patchwork Greens.  We highly suggest the Patchwork Greens!
  • Harvest Burger– We love Harvest Mobile’s take on America’s favorite sandwich!  It consists of a Turkey Burger, Roasted Garlic aioli, White Cheddar and Patchwork Greens on a warm bun.

Please browse through our photo album below for some killer pics.  Harvest Mobile Cuisine, one of the best Food Adventures on four wheels !

SoMoLo is here, are you ready?

January 5, 2012 By Michelle Ton Leave a Comment

If you thought 2011 was the year for social, you were (partly) wrong.  2012 has barely begun and already boasts to top last year’s record with social media engagement and take it to the next level.  This year, it’s about what some may know as
With tablet sales majorly increasing over the holiday season with the launch of Kindle Fire, more people than ever have access to the internet and applications than ever before.  Marketers and retailers are trying to get our attention at every click of the mouse.  And we’re willing to engage – as long as we come out with the benefits.SoMoLo – social, mobile, local.  2012 means social needs to be accessible from anywhere and anytime and remain relevant to the user.

How do you make sure you’re receiving what you want? That takes a bit of planning.  For starters, check what email lists you’re subscribed to, what apps have access to your accounts, and what information you’re putting on the world wide web.  This will help make sure that advertisers see only what you want them to see, and in return, you see what you want to see.

Next, seek out local businesses that you frequent – or wish to frequent – and see what specials or offers they may have.  The best app to use is something like Yelp or Foursquare.  Both apps give you a chance to explore your area and see what specials are available through your tablet or smartphone.

Finally, if you don’t have a smartphone yet, fear not.  You can still use the search option on any social media site to find out about your local area.  Follow them on Facebook and Twitter to get the latest updates.  You’ll be surprised at the abundance of information (and deals!) you can get – and it’s all right at the touch of your fingertips.
