There’s A New Beer in Town

September 28, 2017 By The Food Adventures Crew Leave a Comment

Bottom Dweller IPA – only available at Submarine House

Food Adventures has learned that brewmasters at Hairless Hare Brewery and the owners and staff at Submarine House have paired up, and have been pouring a new beer that is available ONLY at six Submarine House locations!

The beer is called BOTTOM DWELLER IPA, and promises to be a local favorite for those IPA lovers and hops fans.

HERE’S THE SKINNY on BOTTOM DWELLER IPA:

— Bottom Dweller IPA is available on tap only at the Submarine Houses in Vandalia, Huber Heights, Troy, Centerville, Beavercreek, and

Six Locations have the new beer

Hilliard.  It isn’t even available at the Hairless Hare Brewery’s tap rooms !

—It is a fresh, clean, citrusy-beer brewed from Columbus, Centennial, Citra, & Mosaic hops. Then dry-hopped with Citra and Mosaic hops.

Brewing Bottom Dweller IPA, exclusively for Submarine House

—At 7% ABV, this well-balanced IPA will take you to a place only few have been. Go There.  And while you are there, get a friggin Cheesesteak.

—The beer is in Submarine House locations now, and has been for 8 weeks.  Manager Kelsey Terhune tells Food Adventures that the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.

—Thirsty for more?  Growlers to go are available for this and all draft beers at every Submarine House location.  Fill up, drink up and repeat.

Hairless Hare Brewery in Vandalia

THE LEGEND of BOTTOM DWELLER IPA:

In the icy cold depths of the abyss lives a creature feared by all. Hiding in the darkness with an alluring bait that glows bright. Attracting wide-eyed prey within it’s hoppy reach.

THE LEGEND OF HAIRLESS HARE BREWERY:

Started in Vandalia and founded by owners Matt Harris and Mike Legg in 2013. The Hairless Hare Brewery is known for their wide selection of craft beer brewed at 738 W. National Rd. in Vandalia.  Whether you are a craft connoisseur or a beer beginner, they have brews that will please all tastes.

THE LEGEND OF SUBMARINE HOUSE:
This ever evolving family restaurant has been taken to the next level over the

Submarine House: Pizza to Salads

past few years by brothers and owners, Brody and Jason Danner. Teaming with a great staff and some franchise owners, they have expanded their stores, improved and completely overhauled the dining areas, expanded the draft beer selection, and added to the iconic menu.  They have embraced many local charities, hosting countless events including poker runs and their annual Super Duper Cheesesteak Challenge for charity.

Brody Danner (left) announcing a charity donation

All of this and still they keep the quality “16 inches of Heaven” in various subs and cheesesteaks that made these restaurants cult favorites and Dayton legends. Grab one of the Miami Valley’s favorite subs and a cold craft beer.

Happiness can be found at Submarine House.  Stop in and try the Bottom Dweller IPA and tell them the Food Adventure Crew sent you.

Bendy Beer – Yoga at Warped Wing

August 9, 2015 By Nikki Nett

kaitlin yoga 3Warped Wing is opening it’s big door for a new class. Beermaking? No. Beer tasting? Nope.

Yoga. You can do yoga at Dayton’s very own Warped Wing Brewing Company. Flying Rye kind of sounds like a yoga pose, right?

It’s always so exciting to see former co-workers moving on to bigger, better, and in this case, bendier things. That’s why I was doing headstands of excitement (ok, I wasn’t, I’m just not there yet) to see my friend Kate putting together this unique event. She has spent the last few years becoming a yoga instructor and wanted to introduce yoga to those who may not normally be the “yoga-type”.

You may be thinking “what’s the yoga type?” and if given a list of descriptions, you’d probably not choose “craft beer drinker”. But, Kate is betting those two will go together like barley and hops, or warrior pose and lululemon.

When I asked her why she put this event together, she said,  “I love bringing the community together for a fun and care-free afternoon. What a better way to spend your time than with yoga and a craft beer? I am passionate about spreading the joy of yoga and bringing craft beer into the mix opens the door to many new people that may have not tried a yoga class.”kaitlin yoga 2

Due to the increasing popularity of this event, participants must purchase tickets in advance to guarantee a spot (yes, the last one sold out!) The next class is scheduled for Sun, Sept 6th,  click here for tickets.

From Kate’s event page:

Could yoga & beer ever exist? You bet your flexible-ass they can! Join us at Warped Wing Brewing Company for a rocking one-hour yoga class followed with a beer from the local brewery.

We will move through a fluid sequence of postures (asanas), focus on our breath (pranayama), that invigorate, strengthen, and restore the body.

This all levels class is ideal for anyone who is interested in exploring yoga in a different & chill environment & wants to expand their minds in respect to local beers.

Cost is $12, which includes a 1-hour yoga class followed by a pint of your choice. Must be 21 to attend.
Class will start right at NOON, so come early to get settled in!
BYOM (Bring your own mat) & water.

Hope you’ll join us for this fun afternoon of yoga & beer. I’ll be the one in the back, perfecting the childs pose and waiting for the Ermals.

ShakesBeer: A Double Dose of Craft

September 29, 2014 By Megan Cooper

Question:

What is ShakesBeer?Shakespearecombined_HiRes

A) A casual mix and mingle for downtown residents and employees.

B) A fun way to enjoy Shakespeare’s Othello through a modern (and much shortened!) production.

C) An opportunity to go behind-the-scenes at one of Dayton’s local craft breweries.

Answer:

All of the above!

Dayton Metro Library is hosting a free after-work networking event on Thursday, October 9 at the Main Library (215 E. Third Street, Dayton) with a double dose of craft.

First up: Enjoy the craft of acting from The Human Race Theatre Company as they perform a shortened and modern version of Shakespeare’s Othello (40 minutes of tweets and deceit) at the Main Library in Downtown Dayton. Then: Head across the street to Warped Wing to enjoy craft beer. Take a tour, take home a special pint glass (first 50 attendees), and enjoy locally-brewed beer available for purchase.

Don’t miss this free event for your opportunity to mix and mingle with other downtown residents and employees in a casual and quick ShakesBeerian adventure.

What’s on tap?

4:30 p.m. – Mix and mingle with fellow downtowners at the Library while you peruse the diverse items from the ShakesBeer collection: plays, modern movie remakes, home brew how-tos, great soundtracks, best brewery guides and more.

5 p.m. – Showtime! The Human Race Theatre Company presents their original production #othello. Adapted and directed by Aaron Vega. All the knavery of this classic tragedy fits into a fast-paced 40 minutes.

5:45 p.m. – As the show wraps, actors will be available for questions and comments about how plays translate from the page to the stage, and you’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at the fine craft of acting.

6 p.m. – We got our Shakes in, now for the Beer. Head across the street as Warped Wing offers a tour of the craft brewery to see behind-the-scenes magic. First 50 attendees to hand in their ticket will take home a free pint glass!
