From the Bellies of Birds, Ink Drawings by Seth Wade

October 4, 2019 By Lisa Grigsby

Local artist and educator, Seth Wade, will be exhibiting ink drawings in his solo show, “From the Bellies of Birds”, opening at Dutoit Gallery on October 4th, 2019.

Employing a process that evokes the spirit of Surrealism, Seth’s drawings gradually emerge from scribbles, allowing the composition and subject of each image to present itself rather than being predetermined. This results in drawings that feature shapes, objects, and narratives that retain a sense of mystery, even to the artist himself.

Seth is currently an adjunct professor of drawing at the University of Dayton, where he received his Bachelors of Fine Arts, and also teaches painting at Stiver’s School for the Arts. “From the Bellies of Birds” will be at Dutoit through October.

“Laughter is the Best Medicine” – A Community Art Show at Village Artisans

October 3, 2019 By Lisa Grigsby

Village Artisans Gallery in Yellow Springs, OH, is hosting “Laughter is the Best Medicint” – A Community Art Show – in their Lobby Gallery October 3 through November 11, 2019, during regular gallery hours. An Artists’ Reception will be held during the Yellow Springs October Art Stroll on Friday, October 18, from 6-9 pm. Both the exhibit and the reception are free and open to the public.

Laughter can reduce the perception of pain, helps people connect with each other, improves the flow of oxygen to both the heart and the brain, and can also improve job performance. We invited the Miami Valley art community to join us by exploring artistically how laughter really is the best medicine. Come see how they interpreted this theme and be sure to bring your funny bone. It’s just what the doctor ordered.

Scantlings

July 12, 2019 By Lisa Grigsby

Dutoit Gallery is pleased to present Scantlings an exhibition of sculptural work by Eli Gfell.

The work in the exhibition, made from found and re-purposed building materials, is realized through intuitive processes and imperfect systems. Traditional notions of value, finish, and permanence are questioned through faux surfaces, forged gestures, and distortions in space and perspective.

Opening Reception: July 12th (second Friday), 6 – 9

Hours: by appointment, contact [email protected]
