Stained Glass and Halo Series Brings FREE String Quartet Performance to Local Churches

May 28, 2015 By Dayton Most Metro

download-picture On Sunday, May 31, 2015 at 4 pm, Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra Principal String Quartet will travel to Trinity United Presbyterian Church, 3211 Lake Avenue, Dayton, OH, to celebrate the human spirit through the universal medium of music with its first Halo Concert of the Dayton Performing Arts Alliance 2014-2015 New Horizons season. The Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra Principal String Quartet comprises Jessica Hung, Concertmaster; Kirstin Greenlaw, Principal Second Violin; Sheridan Currie, Principal Viola; and  Andra Lunde Padrichelli, Principal Cello. The concert is free and open to the public with no ticket required.

This concert is part of the DPO’s Stained Glass and Halo Series of concerts in community churches, which themselves are part of a series of community outreach efforts called the Norma Ross Memorial Community Concerts in honor of the late Mrs. Norma Ross, a tireless advocate for music and minority youth. All Stained Glass and Halo Concerts are free with generous seating available. The 2014–2015 Stained Glass Series Concerts, Halo Concerts, and Norma Ross Memorial Community Concerts are made possible by the Bob Ross Auto Group and Keybank.

This season’s Halo Concert program features two beautiful selections of music, including Ludwig van Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 11 “Serioso” and David Baker’s “Summer Memories” for String Quartet.

The Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra will present two additional Stained Glass Concerts this spring: one on Sunday, June 7, 2015, at 5 pm at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church in Trotwood, OH, and one on Sunday, June 14, 2015 at 5 pm at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Dayton, OH.

For more information on this May 31st Halo Concert, please call the Dayton Performing Arts Alliance at (937) 224-3521.  For more information on the 2014-2015 Stained Glass and Halo Concert Series, visit www.daytonperformingarts.org/14-15/stainedglassseries.
