Staying Connected While Social Distancing
June 8 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
I’ve been partnering with the Dayton International Peace Museum to plan a virtual dialogue to create a space for people to connect and find community during social distancing and the COVID-19 pandemic.
With the recent murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery and the unending history of violence against Black people in the United States necessarily at the center of our collective attention, we’ve expanded our vision for this dialogue.
We are offering this space for sharing personal experiences. Our goal is that you can hear from those who may be experiencing these crises differently from you and build community across distance.
The event is about listening deeply to understand rather than to persuade others, solve each other’s problems, or find points of agreement. We are borrowing an approach to dialogue that was pioneered by Essential Partners and used all around the world for 30 years to support communities in building trust and connection.
The dialogue is designed to create a space for people to connect and find community in a virtual space. This is not one of those things you watch in the background—it is something we ask you to fully participate in.
