Introducing…Leesa Haapapuro and Clay

Virtually join the DSA for a clay workshop over Zoom! Meet instructor, Leesa Haapapuro, and learn about her artistic practice. Follow along and use the kit included in registration to create a portrait in air-drying clay. Leesa will be using a model, so grab a mirror for a self portrait, or a friend or family member to pose for you!
Registrants will pick up their kits from the High Street Gallery (48 High Street, Dayton) 12pm-5pm: Friday, June 4 or Saturday June 5, 2021

Clay Kit Includes
- 5 lbs air-drying clay
- 1 plastic bin
- 1 shop towel (cloth)
- Wooden stand
- Clay tool
- Masking Tape
- Armature Wire

Leesa Haapapuro was born in Detroit, MI. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from University of the Arts in Philadelphia and a Masters of Fine Arts degree from Cranbrook Academy of Art in 2000. Haapapuro has been an arts educator, and member of the Dayton arts community for many years. She has sculptures in the permanent collection of the Dayton Art Institute and Wright State University. She is well known for her temporary site-specific installations which invite community participation, and has shown extensively throughout the region.
The purpose of the workshop series, Introducing…, is to acquaint DSA members and the community to different mediums and methods in the visual arts. In conjunction, the attendees will get to know the instructing artist, their background, and tips and tricks of their trade.
