The quartet known as Yellowjackets is approaching a 40th anniversary as one of the premier ensembles in jazz. Born out of the Robben Ford group in the late 70’s Yellowjackets went on to create a sound and style all their own. Members are; Russell Ferrante piano, William Kennedy drums, Dane Alderson bass, and Bob Mintzer saxophone, EWI. The band has a distinctive sound which melds acoustic and electric jazz in a particular way. The sound is characteristically Yellowjackets. Yellowjackets have received numerous Grammy nominations and two Grammy wins, and place regularly in the Downbeat and Jazz times best ensemble category. The band tours 3-4 months out of the year playing major festivals and clubs all over the world. The current recording, Raising our Voice (Mack Avenue) was released mid 2018, with special guest Luciana Souza.
