Aviation Exhibit Ribbon Cutting

January 29 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Join us at the Main Entrance as we unveil our new aviation exhibits!
Come check out the new displays:
WRIGHT B. FLYER sponsored by Wright Patt Credit Union:
This airplane is one of several Wright replicas Tom and Nancy Valentine of California built for the 1978 TV movie “The Winds of Kitty Hawk”. It is a full-size replica patterned after the Wright Brothers’ Model B biplane. This model plane is on display inside of the Main Entrance in partnership with Wright B. Flyer Inc., an organization promoting, through exhibition of Wright B Flyer lookalikes, public awareness of the Dayton, OH region, where the Wright Brothers lived, invented the airplane, and gave birth to modern aviation. The display is sponsored by Wright Patt Credit Union, a not-for-profit, member-owned financial institution, dedicated to providing products and resources to make life a little easier.
WACO AIRPLANE WINGS sponsored by Dayton Aviation Services:
These sets of wings come from a 1936 YKS-6 cabin model donated to WACO Museum by the Eggsphueler family of Columbus, OH. The wings are made mostly of wood then covered in cloth and painted with many layers of paint. This made them lightweight and helped to produce a very aerobatic airplane. These two wings were then stacked on top of one another to provide greater stiffness with lower weight. These wings are on display inside of the Main Entrance in partnership with the WACO Air Museum, dedicated to the WACO Aircraft Company, the largest manufacturer of civil aircraft in the country in the late 1920’s and early 30’s. This display is sponsored by Dayton Aviation Services, which provides aircraft rental, flight instruction, and training; located at the Historic Moraine Airpark.
These exhibits were fostered by NAHA, the National Aviation Heritage Area, which promotes the eighteen aviation related entities in the Dayton area.
The Mall at Fairfield Commons is proud to announce that The Armed Forces Hub, an area to celebrate local military personnel and veterans, has relocated and reopened. Now located on the lower level near Macy’s, The Armed Forces Hub not only gives back to active duty and retired military personnel but also gives the opportunity for military nonprofits and recruiters to offer outreach to the community. Through the Armed Forces Hub, The Mall at Fairfield Commons will showcase ways that the local community can give back to those in service.
