2021 Greene County Anti-Racism Seminar + Rally
May 22 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pmFree
A year ago, Minnesota police killed George Floyd and people protested around the world for racial justice. With the vivid images of racism on our screens and the coronavirus pandemic in our communities, 2020 was a tough year for many.
Despite the chaos, folks from across Greene County organized around the issue that is woven into every other societal problem we face – systematic racism in our communities.
In the spirit of solidarity to address this problem, we present the 2021 Greene County Anti-Racism Seminar + Rally on May 22, virtual seminar from 10-12pm followed by an in-person rally at the Greene County Courthouse in Xenia at 1pm.
Together with Greene County Voices, a local grassroots group that promotes progressive values across the county, the following groups from various municipalities invite you to bond in community and support each other in the needed work to stand up against racism.
Citizens for a Better Beavercreek
City of Fairborn Diversity & Inclusion Committee (aka Inclusive Fairborn)
Sugarcreek Cares (includes Bellbrook)
YS Speaking Up For Justice (Yellow Springs)
This seminar offers the opportunity to remember George Floyd, to explore the anti-racism work occurring in our communities, and understand our implicit biases better. We also welcome Bishop Jerome McCorry as our keynote Speaker of the event. All residents of Greene County (and beyond!) are welcome to join us.
*** While our implicit bias training is focused on skills white people need to build, this is an inclusive space where all are welcome. ***
Advance registration for the seminar is required. There is no charge for attending.
Don’t see a group in your area? We will work with you to start your own anti-racist team in your neighborhood.
