Kettering Gets Epic Coffee Shoppe!

July 15, 2018 By Lisa Grigsby

Corner of Stroop and Far Hills

Epic Coffee Shoppe, located at the corner of Stroop & Far Hills, will officially open for business at 7am on Monday morning.  Owners Brian Ernst and Laura Gorham of Kettering began construction on the shop last November, in the spot that formerly housed Sweet P’s Handcrafted Ice Pops.  And what a transformation it is- Ernst’s flair for interior design is clearly evident in the elegant shop decorated in black and white with a pop of red.

The shop, which will be open 6 days a week, describe themselves as purveyors of fine artisan crafted coffees and desserts.

One of their specialties will be Affogato, an Italian-style coffee drink that with  a scoop of ice cream that is topped off with a shot of hot espresso.  Make it a Royale by adding a raspberry topping.

Other coffee drinks being offered include Cappuccino, Latte, Drip brewed blends, french press and pour overs coffees.  A selection of organic teas, matcha, chai latte and hot chocolate are also on the menu.

Their food menu includes breakfast offerings like French Toast Dulce de Leche and a Monte Christo, lunch includes 3 salads, a daily freshly made soup and artisan sandwiches like:

The Tuscan – Ovengold® Turkey, Asagio Cheese, and Pesto on Ciabatta toasted Bread
The Britain – Grilled London Broil Roast Beef, Provolone, Pub Style Horesradish on Panini toasted Sourdough Bread
Bella Italia – Grilled Ham, Genoa and D’Oro Salami, Pepperoni & Prosciutto with Provolone, Asiago and an herbal olive oil & vinegar dressing on Italian Bread
The Black Forest – Grilled Beechwood Smoked Black Forest Ham, Baby Swiss Cheese and Deli Mustard on a Panini toasted Marbled Rye Bread
International Grilled Cheese-Panini grilled Baby Swiss, Asiago & Gruyere on Sourdough Bread

Freshly baked breads, muffins and cookies will be availabel as well as cinnamon rolls and coffee cakes. Ice cream is also available in various forms, including cones, floats and shakes and a very intriguing sounding Belgian Eye Scream- which is a double shot of expresso blended with ice cream into a shake.

Their website shares they will host a variety of creative events ranging from open mic music night to children’s reading hour.

About Lisa Grigsby

Lisa Grigsby is a Special Events Director with over thirty years experience in promotions, event coordination and public relations.

Owning Jokers Comedy Cafe for 20 years taught Lisa to maintain a sense of humor under pressure. She credits Leadership Dayton for exposing her to the amazing assets of the region and Clothes That Work for being her reason she stayed in Dayton. Her proudest accomplishment as a past president of the Miami Valley Restaurant Association was creating Restaurant Week, a twice a year tradition that continues to grow and benefit local charities as well. As a foodie, it's only natural that she continues to promote local restaurateurs with DaytonDining.

As a Dayton Catalyst, her desire to have ONE community calendar and advocate for the amazing assets of the region helped create the vision for the relaunch of DaytonMostMetro.
