20 Dayton Dining & Drinking Spots With a Great Patio

April 13, 2018 By Lisa Grigsby

The skies are sunny and warm weather is here, which can mean only one thing: The season for patio drinking is here!  Since it’s been a while since we’ve been able to sip cocktails on a patio, we’d like to share with you of a few of our favorites:

Troll Pub patio

Troll Pub
216 Wayne Ave, Dayton
Mon – Fri 11am – 2pm, Sat noon- 2am, Sun noon-11pm

The newest patio in Dayton, this eatery opened on St. Patrick’s Day and  extends the Oregon District to the east.  Order up a round of Frickles- deep fried dill pickles, beer cheese with pretzel sticks or the pot roast poutine to pair up with one of their 100 beers choices, or their extensive beer/whiskey menu. Update- Ohio Liquor Control has stopped liquor service on this patio until a fence is put up to separate the common area from the patio- Mgmt is working on that and should be fixed within 2 weeks.

South Park Tavern
1301 Wayne Ave, South Park
Mon – Sat 11am -1pm, Sun noon- 1am

This enclosed patio has a cool, casual feel, and great service, so it’s easy to sip away for lunch or an afternoon of day drinking. Try an order of their focaccia, the loaded tavern fries or some dirty chips to munch on with your cocktails. Of course they are best know for the pizza and  Monday’s are especially busy, when you can take advantage of half price pizza all day.

Old Scratch Pizza patio

Old Scratch Pizza
812 S Patterson Blvd
, Dayton
Tues – Thurs  11am–10pm, Fri & Sat 11am–11pm, Sun  11am–9pm

Serving up Neapolitan-style pies quickly crafted in their 800° wood-burning ovens, with 20 taps of local and regional craft beer, in a casual and communal hall. If you are looking for more than pizza, they have “not-your-average-pizza-place” salads, fire-roasted veggies, and gluten-free and vegan options too.

Peach’s in Yellow Springs

Peach’s Bar and Grill
104 Xenia Ave., Yellow Springs
open daily 11:3oam – 2:30am

With a great beer selection, a menu that’s vegetarian friendly and some great people watching this covered patio is a great place to chill out.  The laid back atmosphere is just what you’ll want after a long hike at the nearby Glen Helen or a ride on the bike trail that’s just adjacent to this business. Beer list has a pretty extensive offering of craft beers.
