A new Japanese / Chinese Buffet called Osaka has opened behind the Dayton Mall and the Food Adventures Crew has the scoop after a few visits. The newly remodeled building formerly housed Max & Erma's for decades, and most recently Hazel Grill. The place is basically a buffet, yet they are trying to distinguish themselves by doing a few things differently. One attraction at Osaka, is the "Conveyor Belt of Sushi." Now, this is not the typical conveyor belt sushi at restaurants that winds its way around the dining area and is priced based on color of the plate you pick up. No, this is … [Read more...] about Osaka: New Buffet with Conveyor Belt Sushi

Whether you like the authentic Taqueira style Mexican food, or the somewhat Americanized Tex-Mex food found around town, you can find both options at El Herradura Restaurant. Food Adventures with Big Ragu and the Crew have visited this spot on Upper Valley Pike in Springfield a couple of times. We have been there when it is packed, been there when they had Mariachi Bands, and been there on a quiet Sunday afternoon. One night Dayton Most Metro's own Lisa Grigsby from Dayton Dining even joined us! So this article takes all angles into account. The menu is extensive, and we've tried … [Read more...] about El Herradura Restaurant: Great Mexican Seafood Dishes & More

A little over a year ago, I had the honor of serving as the Director of Operations for the first ever Fashion Week in the City of Dayton; like Cincinnati, Columbus, and Cleveland have been doing for years…it was now the Gem City’s turn to take its position in the International Fashion Spotlight. From day one it was an uphill battle getting Dayton Fashion Week off of the ground, the Founder and owner of DFW Junda Morris-Kennedy of JMK Production was new to the area, she didn’t have any local connections, and the idea of a fashion week was a completely new concept to the Miami Valley area. As … [Read more...] about Introducing The Dayton Emerging Fashion Incubator (DE-FI)
In the world of Food Adventures, we rarely hit the chains. But once in a while, we give our spin on some familiar favorites. How about some feedback from the thousands of Dayton Foodies out there? That's right, The Big Ragu and the Crew want to know what DaytonMostMetro fans think. What do you like better, Chipotle or Qdoba and why? Jax's take: For me it is Qdoba for the simple fact that there are more choices. More options mean a better variety in my effort to be more health conscious. The tastes are similar but there are more soups, quesadillas, etc. at Qdoba. This discussion makes … [Read more...] about Chipotle vs. Qdoba: Who’d You Rather ?
Recently it seems like no matter where I go and no matter what I do, I run into somebody who expresses their excitement or has questions about Dayton Fashion Week-- from my close friends to random strangers who recognize me from my picture on this blog. The word has gotten out and I’m pretty comfortable saying that the City of Dayton is ready to take its place as the Fashion Capital of the Midwest!! When I first heard about Dayton Fashion Week in September and signed up to help last year, I naively thought this was just going to be a fun little fashion show that will give people something … [Read more...] about Dayton Fashion Week Seeks Volunteers
I was on Facebook and LinkedIn several years ago after a long day at work and a big networking event afterward. You have been there I’m sure; an evening event starts at 5:30 p.m. and ends at 7:00 p.m.-- but not for you. You stay an extra hour, leaving no stone unturned. Even though I was exhausted when I got home, I wanted to connect through LinkedIn with the people I had just met before I forgot. Of course it was late at night and I was tired. Here is what it looked like when I saw what I had written the next day: “Hell John, It was gret meeting you tonight. I look forward to … [Read more...] about Social Media Protocol — The Good, The Bad & The Ugly
