Beer has flooded the country. In 2010, there were fewer than 1,800 breweries in the United States. And there were zero in Dayton. Fast forward to 2013, where there are over 2,500 breweries in the United States. Dayton is seeing its own brewing growth spurt, with the Dayton Beer Company, Fifth Street Brewpub, Toxic Brewing Company, Lock 27 Brewing, Yellow Springs Brewing, Eudora, Star City Brewing, and many others that I am sure are in the works. Beer tastings have also expanded all over the city. Brewtensils has been offering not only supplies, but classes in brewing everything from a … [Read more...] about Welcome to Dayton Beer Week 2013!
Blind Bob's Tavern
Tucked into the Oregon District is a pub with personality called Blind Bob's. Cheap drink specials and a unique spin on food has locals becoming loyal regulars. The Big Ragu first heard of Blind Bob's through word of mouth, all of which was good. We were lucky to visit the eatery for a DaytonMostMetro.com Happy Hour event in late summer. On our next Food Adventure to Blind Bob's, we ate dinner with Heater from the Dayton Dragon's. You never know who or what you are going to see at Blind Bob's. You want unique? How about a cream of pickle soup that is one of their most popular … [Read more...] about Lots to See at Blind Bob’s
On August 16th, the Dayton music community lost a friend, a fellow musician and a fan with the passing of Jeremy Frederick who performed with Sunken Giraffe, Tribal Nation, Cigarhead, Lazy, Dirty Walk, Let's Crash, and Human Reunion. Tonight at Blind Bob's, friends and family will celebrate his life from 6 to 10pm, and late that night the Motel Beds and Astro Fang will continue the tribute as part of Blind Bob's 4th anniversary. I can't recall the first time I met Jeremy because for as long as I can remember going to shows in Dayton, he's been there - either onstage or in front of it … [Read more...] about In Memory of Jeremy Frederick (1972-2012)
