Woodland is the final resting place of many of the nation’s most well-known inventors and innovators such as the inventors of powered flight Orville and Wilbur Wright, poet Paul Laurence Dunbar, writer Erma Bombeck, and entrepreneur George P. Huffman (Huffy Bicycles). We also have many other persons of interest such as Levi and Matilda Stanley, King and Queen of the Gypsies, George Newcom, one of Dayton’s founding fathers and Clement Vallandigham, “the man without a country.” Enjoy a stroll through time as you discover the timeless beauty and fascinating history of Woodland Cemetery and Arboretum.
This walk is free and open to the public however donations are gladly accepted.
This walk may be deemed strenuous by some as you will cover a lot of the cemetery grounds both up and down hills and into the grassy areas. Please wear good walking shoes and dress for the weather. Bringing a water bottle is highly encouraged.
The tour will depart promptly at 10:00 AM from the main gates on Woodland Avenue. Parking is available both inside and outside of the gates.
To attend this program, please call in your RSVP to 937-228-3221.
