Voices Against Violence Breakfast
October 10 @ 7:30 am - 9:00 amFree
In July 1977, YWCA Dayton became the second YW in the U.S. to open an emergency shelter for battered women. Today, YWCA USA is the single largest provider of domestic violence shelter and services in the country. On Oct. 10, we invite you to be a Voice Against Violence with us. Join us in recognizing 42 years of sheltering and advocating for our community’s most vulnerable women and children — and come together #OnAMission for women’s safety, now and into the future.
One of YWCA Dayton’s two longest-running fundraisers, this event (formerly called the YWomen Breakfast) has shared the stories of survivors of domestic violence for nearly 20 years. It informs attendees of the work YWCA Dayton does in providing emergency shelter, crisis hotline services, and clinical supportive care across two counties while raising awareness and funds for domestic violence as a critical community issue that affects us all.
Doors open 7:30 a.m.; program & breakfast 8-9 a.m. The eighth annual recipient of the Marsha Froelich Survivor Award will be honored during the event. In addition, for the fourth year, we’ll be participating in Pass the Purse Dayton (formerly the Purple Purse Challenge), a special peer-to-peer fundraiser supporting our domestic violence program. Look for our purple Donation Stations at this year’s Breakfast!
Free to attend; advance registration is required and contributions are appreciated. Registration coming soon. For questions or to become a sponsor or Table Captain, contact Marshall Weil, director of development, at [email protected] or 937-461-5550 x129.
