The Longest Table Dayton
March 19, 2017 @ 2:30 pm - 5:30 pmFree
The Longest Table Dayton, an initiative designed to connect people, neighborhoods and ideas, is now hosting monthly community meals and gatherings at venues throughout the Dayton area.
The next Longest Table Dayton community meal will fill the University of Dayton Central Mall on Sunday, March 19, from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., and is hosted by UD Student Government Association.
LOCATION UPDATE! Due to the chilly weather forecast for the weekend, Sunday’s event has been moved inside. The building is Kennedy Union and we’ll be in the Ballroom on the 2nd floor.
Admission is free; free parking is available in the B or C lots. Information and registration are available at thelongesttabledayton.com.
Longest Table Dayton monthly meals follow an initial event in October 2016, where hundreds of Daytonians gathered for a community meal and dialogue on the Third Street Bridge (Dayton’s “Peace Bridge”). With a goal of connecting residents from every corner of the region and bringing together people who might otherwise never meet, guests were randomly assigned to tables and spent the afternoon learning about each other and their neighborhoods.
The City of Dayton Human Relations Council is sponsoring the monthly meals. With a vision of “Many people. Many voices. One city,” the Council sees these events as an opportunity to break down barriers and build inclusive communities.
