Legendary Lights of Clifton Mill
December 4 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm$3 – $10
GREAT CHRISTMAS LIGHT FIGHT’CHAMPION IS BACK
The Legendary Lights of Clifton Mill, a Christmas Holiday tradition for over three decades, highlighted on ABC TV’S ‘THE GREAT CHRISTMAS LIGHT FIGHT’ in 2018 winning top honors as best Christmas Lights in the Heavyweight Division, is back and bigger than ever.
“We were more than excited that judge Carter Oosterhouse and ABC picked us to be featured on their show. And even more gratifying we took home the trophy and top prize.” said Anthony Satariano, co-owner of Historic Clifton Mill.
“We were a bit overwhelmed with visitors packing our small village of Clifton, but people were patient and understood national television exposure brought folks not only from the Miami Valley, but Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee and beyond. We do like to remind everyone though, best time to visit is Monday through Thursday nights. Weekends tend to be a bit more crowded.” He added.
The Legendary Lights of Clifton Mill kicks off for the season Friday, November 29 through December 30. Admission is $10, children 3 and under are free with paying adult.
Also, opening night our good friend Kristi Leigh from MIX 107.7 will be broadcasting LIVE from 4-6pm. Kristi and family will flip the switch precisely at 6pm officially opening the 2019 season.
Gates open at 5pm, and LIGHTS turn-on at 6pm, over 4 million lights brighten the night instantly, transforming the mill and gorge into a shimmering world of Christmas wonder.
What began as a simple idea of stringing a few strands of lights on the historic mill for the enjoyment of family and friends is now one of the largest outdoor holiday displays in the country. Now, millions of lights later, the Legendary Lights of Clifton Mill decorate the mill, trees, riverbanks and almost everything in between. Including the water wheel.
One of the big crowd pleasers is the covered bridge synchronized light & music show, which occurs hourly each night.
Also, over 30 years ago, the owners began work on a miniature village with mini versions of some of Clifton’s historic buildings built by an artisan in Pennsylvania. There have been new additions each year by a variety of artists and today it is a sight to behold with street after miniature street of scaled down homes and businesses, a tiny Fire Dept. putting out a “house fire”, an outdoor train, a 1950s drive-in theatre, a County Fair and much more lit up for the holidays!
Clifton Mill has over 3000 examples of ‘Santa Claus’ on display dating back to 1850. Some are toys, some used for advertising, odd to elegant, all are interesting. Plus, a real live Santa popping out of the chimney.
Also, our ‘world-famous’ hot chocolate is back. A crowd favorite. Hot dogs and snacks on the menu too.
The Children’s Medical Center Ambassadors will be back to be our honorary ‘Switch Flippers’ and December 12, is American Cancer Night with a portion of the proceedsdonated to the organization.
