Benefits of Driving Electric Vehicles Celebrated at
National Drive Electric Week Event in the Dayton Area
OAKWOOD, Ohio – Electric vehicle (EV) owners, supporters and intrigued local residents will attend an EV ride and drive event on Sunday, September 22 to highlight the cost savings along with climate and clean air benefits provided by electric cars, as part of the ninth annual National Drive Electric Week.
Visitors will be able to talk with local EV owners about their battery-powered and plug-in hybrid cars. Many of the privately owned EVs will be available for test drives or rides. Electric vehicles from BMW, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Ford, Honda, Jaguar, Mitsubishi, Nissan and Tesla are expected.
In addition, visitors can learn more about solar systems to generate electricity for homes and businesses along with equipment to charge EVs.
The EV ride and drive event is free and open to the public from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, September 22, 2019 behind Oakwood High School at Mack Hummon Stadium, East Schantz Avenue, Dayton, OH 45419.
“A switch to electric vehicles frees Americans from the gas pump and reduces air pollution; plus, these cars are incredibly fun, efficient and convenient to drive,” said Jim Kelly, a Springboro resident who is organizing the EV ride and drive event. “We’re celebrating National Drive Electric Week to show our community how our neighbors in the Dayton area are enjoying electric cars without the need for oil.”
The ride and drive event in the Dayton area is one of almost 300 across the country at which electric vehicle owners, government and community leaders are holding electric car parades, “tailpipe-free” tailgate parties, ride-and-drives and other public events.
Drive Electric Dayton, with more than 300 members, is the event sponsor. Full details about the ride and drive event can be found at https://driveelectricweek.org/event.php?eventid=1988
