Cooking Class: A Modern Dinner Party

Make your guests feel at home with this help-yourself-spread. Opting for a casual dinner party that lets guests be part of the action creates a comfortable atmosphere that enables the host to join in the fun. This menu is perfect for such a soirée. Guests will enjoy helping themselves to Korean-style pulled pork (Bo Ssam). The ingredients are a simple rub of salt and sugar. The pork is cured overnight and then roasted slowly to create that fall-off-the-bone tenderness. Then, right before serving, we’ll turn the oven up to 500°F and rub a mixture of brown sugar and salt to develop a dark caramel crust. Guests will fill their lettuce leaves with this tender pork and top it with Ginger Scallion Sauce, Ssam Sauce, White Rice, and Kimchi accompaniments. Mary will round out this menu with Korean Kimchi Pancakes, Gochujang Meatballs, and Miso Peanut Butter Cookies. This menu will be paired with beer.
