Our first meeting of 2018! Mark your calendars and call your friends! Invite new members or set up dinner plans with other members for after the meeting! It is a great way to start the new year doing something good for the community we live in! 1 Hour, 100+Women, 1-derful experience; Don’t miss it!
Here is how it works: At your first meeting you fill out a commitment form stating that you will donate $100 four times a year to the local charity of the groups choice. You are given a slip of paper to vote.
Members who are interested in presenting a charity for consideration to the group put their name on another slip of paper and put it into a bag. Only members may present a charity to the group. All charities must be local 501(c)3 and non-controversial. At the beginning of each meeting 3 names are chosen at random from the bag. If you are chosen to present your charity to the group you have 5 minutes (timed) to give your pitch.
After all 3 charities are presented there are 5 minutes of question/answer about the groups. Then we each write our choice on our slip of paper and they are collected and tallied. Whoever gets the most votes wins and we then each write our check directly to that organization for $100 and pass it to the front (do the math that is $20,000 in 1 hour with no paperwork!).
If you can’t attend a meeting you must send your check with another member or mail it. Also at each meeting we get a brief presentation from a previous recipient as to how our money has been put to good use. You can put your name in to present a charity to the group every time or not at all. If you get to present your charity and it is not chosen you can present again another meeting if you are picked.
In our seven years together we have supported 25 local charities and given oven half a million dollars! For more information go to www.100womenwhocaredayton.weebly.com
